Jagan Dewan Gupta, MD

After graduating from Lake Castle, Jagan continued his studies at Benjamin Franklin High School and immensely enjoyed his high school experience, excelling in academics, extracurricular activities including Hi -Y youth government, and being a member of the varsity basketball, track, and cross-country teams.  Jagan spent a summer at Phillips Academy Andover in Massachusetts with his twin brother after his sophomore year in high school, which was one of the most impactful experiences of his life.  Jagan then continued his studies at Tulane University and was accepted early to Tulane Medical School as a creative premedical scholar, receiving a partial scholarship to Tulane Medical School as a Jack Arons Scholar.   He spent a semester abroad during his undergraduate tenure in Mumbai, India, enrolling in a full-time acting school, Kishore Namit Acting Institute, pursing his passion and interest in the arts.  During his time at Tulane University, Jagan served as his class vice president, graduated summa cum laude, became a William Wallace Peary honoree, and finished as salutatorian of Tulane College just behind his identical twin brother Neel Gupta, who was valedictorian.

Jagan continued his studies at Tulane Medical School followed by a Preliminary Medicine Internship at Tulane Health Sciences Center and Tulane Radiology Residency.  Subsequently, Jagan was accepted to the prestigious Duke University Health Sciences center, completing a one- year Neuroradiology fellowship serving as chief fellow.  Jagan has now been back in his hometown of New Orleans, initially practicing at West Jefferson Medical Center and now has been actively serving as the Chief of Neuroradiology at The VA Medical Center in New Orleans training Tulane and LSU radiology residents, LSU ophthalmology residents, and training two full time Neuroradiology fellows.

Jagan has continued his educational journey and has completed his MBA from Tulane University, graduating in May 2025.

Additionally, Jagan enjoys actively participating in Real Estate Development projects locally and regionally with his family and spending time with his beautiful family.
