She graduated from U.N.O. with a B.A. in sociology, teaching certificate in Social Studies, and Masters in Education in Counselor Education. Since joining the Lake Castle faculty in 1978, she has taught Social Studies, English, and physical education. Mrs. Hankins also coached JV and SV level volleyball and indoor ball. Furthermore, she was a senior counselor in the Lake Castle Summer Program for girls since its inception. She is presently the lower elementary principal and school counselor.

Lake Castle Summer Camp activities include daily swimming, mental activities such as chess, computer activities, and puzzles, and outdoor games such as kickball, soccer, flag football, and volleyball. There is also a field day, a themed festival day, and an end-of-camp talent show. We also schedule several field trips to places such as the Audubon Zoo, French Quarter, and City Park.
